Big thanks to David Gutowski for featuring Lance Olsen’s An Inventory of Benevolent Butterflies (Dzanc Books) in Largehearted Boy‘s Book Notes series. Olsen shares a playlist of thirteen songs that illuminate his reimagining of artist Henry Darger’s life and work, exploring trauma, radical interiority, and the power of art to subvert and transform. A fascinating glimpse into the music and ideas behind this singular novel.
